The latest stage of H T Brigham’s continuous improvement programme is now complete. Midland contractors Andrew Kelsey Building Services have this week, finished work creating a bespoke first floor office space, which will merge the administrative arms of the production and engineering departments together.

This investment has been made in order to maximise the productive space available on the ground floor of the metal pressing manufacturer’s site in Coleshill,Birmingham. The need for this move has been highlighted as a result of an increased order book and an evolving factory footprint due to continual 5S improvements.

With several individual manufacturing cells now showing the benefits of 5S implementation, the factory expansion will allow for the remaining cells to undergo the same treatment. The revised factory layout will improve manufacturing flow, increasing efficiency and responsiveness.

H T Brigham’s press capacity, which at present ranges from 10 to 350 ton in transfer and 50 to 400 ton in progression, will also be primed for further expansion, with space readily available to house future capital investment. The manufacturer’s capability range will consequently be increased, allowing for the further penetration of existing markets and diversification into new ones.
