Presswork firm HT Brigham & Company is set to expand after landing a component order worth in excess of £1.5 million.

The Coleshill-based manufacturer of Metal Pressings has secured the order from a longstanding automotive client, and is now looking to recruit in order to accommodate the increase in workload.

The firm refused to disclose the name of its customer, but said its products were set for the North American market.

It said: “With two new permanent positions having been filled and several temporary posts being considered, the firm plans to have increased its workforce by 12 per cent before the spring.

“The order in question, is for a deep drawn pressing, which will be introduced onto a leading North American OEM’s automotive platform during 2012. The component design, which replaces an extremely costly and troublesome cast part, has been achieved following eight months of research and development work between HT Brigham and their customer’s design engineers.”

The group said the order was set to reach quantities in excess of 400,000 per year, and would be manufactured on the company’s newest acquisition. The Chin Fong power press, with 400 ton capacity, was purchased late last year and enables the pressworker to manufacture heavier components than they have previously been able to produce.

Sales manager Andrew Essom said “The £250,000 investment was made to secure the firms future growth and looks to have paid off already with HT Brigham securing two long-term contracts for new projects
