On 19th October, the great and the good of Midlands based manufacturing assembled to celebrate the region’s achievements over the last 12 months. The Made in theMidlandsawards event was, for the third year running, held to recognise growth, investment and innovation from local manufacturers.

H T Brigham received a Manufacturing Achievement award for having secured a component order worth in excess of £1.5 million in its first year of production. The order has meant that the company has had to recruit in order to accommodate the increase in workload.

The pressworker was recognised for its innovative component design, which replaces an extremely costly and troublesome cast part, and was achieved following eight months of research and development work between H T Brigham and their customer’s design engineers.

The resulting high volume order, which is set to reach quantities in excess of 400,000 per year, will be manufactured on the company’s newest acquisition, a 400 ton Chin Fong Power Press. The £250,000 investment was made in 2011 to secure the firms future growth.

The award was sponsored by Bloomer Heaven, Chartered Accountants. Chris Barlow, Director of Bloomer Heaven said: "On behalf of Bloomer Heaven Chartered Accountants I would like to congratulate our client, HT Brigham, on their award for product innovation. This award is due recognition for the work that has gone into developing new and existing products within their business which has allowed them to extend sales into new areas. The company can be rightly proud of the part it plays in putting Midland Manufacturers on the world map."

The Made in the Midlands initiative champions the region’s skill base throughout the supply chain.
